SMVC and Cwmdare Voices Joint Concert in support of Cancer Research
18th October 2025

Over £2700 raised on the night in our Joint Concert. Our grateful thanks to the Male Voice Choir from Cwndare who travelled and stayed locally to make the event sosuccessful. This is the third time we have sung together and the concerts just get better.

After the Concert, both choirs and their families and supporters retired to the Village Club for a late light supper, a few drinks and much more Community Singing. It was a great, brilliant and successfull night.

A group of elderly men and one woman seated in rows, with the men wearing green vests and bow ties, and the woman in a red and black tartan dress, against a backdrop of green curtains.

Our repetoire is predominantly songs from the 1940’s to Modern Day. We sing from our Music folders largely reducing the need for memorising the words and notes.
We sing at a number of events and our latest programme of Music is listed on ourEvents page.
Our season culminates in our major fundraising event, The Summer Seranade. This has traditionally been held in the Residents Private Gardens at Stoneleigh Abbey, with the very kind permission on the Residents, usually on the2ndSuday in July. It is a glorious day, with a picnic, in a fantastic setting. Happily it is usually our largest fundraiser, andwhere we make our significant donations to our Charities.

Kevin Stannard: Our New Musical Director:
An impressive addition to the Choir

"Kevin Stannard has many interests as a musician and teacher with strengths in performance, improvisation, composition, theory, aural and choral music. He has performed as a pianist, organist and conductor across the UK for over forty years and more recently his interests in music education have taken him to conferences in Malaysia, China and Australia. He began directing choirs in 1980 and has worked with all ages including massed choirs of school children at the Wembley Conference Centre; adult choirs such as the North Cotswold Chamber Choir and close harmony group Two-Apart which he founded in 1987; student choirs such as the Oxford Gargoyles and the Howling Wolves (University of Wolverhampton Chamber Choir) who won the regional heat of the Sainsbury’s Choir of the Year competition in 2002 and the National Choir of the Year competition in 2016".

If you have previous singing eperience even better..
